Over the years, suburban growth has brought increasing through traffic to Route 159.  The original residential neighborhood remained intact but bisected by a widened road.  The economic vitality of the corridor had also suffered and the neighborhood sought the Town’s involvement to unify and uplift the corridor.  TPA’s analysis of the 1.5 miles of State road identified a number of feasible improvements.  Pedestrian crossings and linkages, gateway enhancements and, in certain cases, private improvements were recommended.  TPA also facilitated two public forums so that residents could share their insights.
