The proposed 200ą acre Commerce Park is a public/private development project with a twist. The City of Waterbury, the owner of 167ą acres, is partnering with the Borough of Naugatuck (where 58 acres of the City's land is located) and a private property owner to create the park under the State's Municipal Development Program. The project, which will be administered by the non-profit Naugatuck Valley Development Corporation, will involve construction of over one mile of new roadway and underground utilities to serve 17 multi-acre parcels carefully laid out to be located on the most developable portions of the site. It is anticipated that the park can accommodate approximately 700,000 sf of construction.
